Kazakhstan Machinery Fair

31 March - 02 April 2027
IEC Expo Astana, Mangilik El 53/1
Astana, Kazakhstan

The Kazakhstan Machinery Fair is the leading platform for mechanical engineering and metalworking in Kazakhstan and Central Asia, offering direct access to a rapidly growing industrial market. In 2026, the fair was able to further strengthen its position and recorded a significant increase to over 4.000 qualified industry visitors, a clear indication of the growing relevance and demand in the market.

With around 250 exhibitors from 24 countries, the Kazakhstan Machinery Fair highlights its growing international significance. International exhibitors account for over 40 percent of the fair. German companies were also particularly well represented, as they specifically used the event to enter new markets or expand their existing business activities in Central Asia.

Although mechanical engineering and metalworking are the main focuses of the fair, visitors will also find offerings in the fields of welding, industrial equipment, automation and robotics, measurement and control, regulation technology, Suppliers (small parts, etc.), electrical engineering, pumps as well as water and sewage technology.

Exhibitors at the trade show are pleased with the high quality of visitors: decision-makers, buyers, and technical specialists who are specifically looking for new technologies, solutions, and partners. About one-third of visitors come to the fair with specific investment and procurement plans.

A key distinguishing feature of the fair is the simultaneous annual conference of the Association Kazakhstan, which brings together over 1.200 top executives from industry and the public sector. The conference provides additional opportunities for networking and presentations, thereby offering direct access to key decision-makers and institutional stakeholders. The visits by the Prime Minister and the Minister of Industry emphasize the high priority the government places on the fair and the conference.

Since 2024, the fair has been jointly organized by Astana Expo and Leipziger Messe International (LMI) in order to further strengthen the event’s international presence and tap into new market opportunities for exhibitors. The federal states of Thuringia, Hesse, and Saxony have, in some cases, already presented themselves on multiple occasions.

Regional and Market Outlook

Kazakhstan is the largest economy in Central Asia and continues to drive the modernization of its industry. Its gross domestic product stood at approximately $288 billion in 2024, and according to preliminary figures, the economy grew by 6.5 percent in 2025. The industrial sector accounts for about a quarter of economic output, while the manufacturing sector accounts for about 13 percent.

The mechanical engineering sector is experiencing above-average growth: production growth of over 11 percent has been projected for 2025. At the same time, there remains a significant need for modernization. Many companies rely on imported machinery and technologies.

This is also reflected in the volume of imports: In 2023, Kazakhstan imported machinery and electronic equipment worth a total of approximately $15 billion.

Through the National Development Plan for Mechanical Engineering 2024 – 2028, the government is taking targeted steps to strengthen local industry, promote technological advancement, and enhance competitiveness, and has set aside substantial funds for this purpose. This has also attracted the interest of German industry. The German Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations, major German industry associations, and federal states have significantly stepped up their activities in recent years. The visit by the German Federal President and a high-level business delegation underlines the geopolitical importance of Central Asia.

The Host City: Astana

Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, has undergone a remarkable transformation since being designated the country's capital in 1997. In a relatively short period, it has evolved from a regional city into a modern metropolis. The city gained international recognition as the host of EXPO 2017. Today, Astana's skyline is defined by striking futuristic landmarks, including the Bayterek Tower, the Hazrat Sultan Mosque, the Ak Orda Presidential Palace, the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation (the Pyramid), the Khan Shatyr Entertainment Center, and the spherical EXPO pavilion Nur Alem. Its distinctive architecture has made Astana a popular destination for visitors interested in contemporary urban planning and innovative architectural design.

Astana also offers a rich and diverse culinary scene. Traditional Kazakh cuisine is best known for its dishes featuring lamb and horse meat, as well as fermented dairy products such as kumys (fermented mare's milk) and shubat (fermented camel's milk). In addition, the city's vibrant restaurant landscape includes Uzbek, Russian, Korean, Chinese, and a wide range of international cuisines. Uzbek cuisine, in particular, is highly recommended, with specialties such as plov and shashlik enjoying great popularity among both locals and visitors.
