Grinding Technology Japan 2027

Official German Pavilion

March 10-12, 2027
Makuhari Messe
Chiba, Japan

Grinding Technology Japan (GTJ) is Japan’s only specialized exhibition for grinding and tool manufacturing technologies. As a biennial meeting point for the industry, it brings together manufacturers, engineers, researchers and decision-makers from the grinding, precision machining and cutting tool sectors. Thanks to its clear focus, GTJ attracts a professional audience and creates ideal conditions for effective business discussions.

In 2025, 249 exhibitors from 15 countries took the opportunity to present their products and services to 6,524 trade visitors, demonstrate complex machine solutions in an accessible way, and build trust with Japanese customers - an essential factor for successful market entry.

Further Information

Regional and Market Outlook

Japan is one of the most technologically demanding and quality-driven markets for grinding machines and precision tooling worldwide. The overall Japanese machine tool market is valued at approximately USD 3.4 billion, while the grinding machine segment accounts for around USD 350 million, with imported machines representing roughly USD 95 million of that total. This demonstrates clear openness to advanced foreign technologies.

As a leading automotive nation, Japan maintains strong demand for high-precision and high-efficiency machining.

European grinding technology in particular enjoys an excellent reputation in Japan for accuracy, rigidity, innovation, and system integration. Japanese users are willing to invest in premium solutions when they deliver measurable performance advantages. Companies offering cutting-edge hybrid technologies, sustainable energy-efficient systems, and reliable after-sales support will find strong opportunities. European and American manufacturers with innovative, high-performance and energy-efficient systems can benefit from a market that values technological leadership and longterm partnerships.

At the Gateway to Tokyo

GTJ takes place in Chiba, part of the greater Tokyo metropolitan area and located just east of the Japanese capital, easily accessible by public transport. Many exhibitors choose to stay in Tokyo to combine their participation in the exhibition with experiencing the unique atmosphere of this vibrant metropolis of 38 million people. Highlights include the iconic Shibuya Crossing, the historic Sensō-ji Temple in Asakusa, Tokyo Tower, and modern districts such as Shinjuku and Ginza.
