Kazakhstan Machinery Fair

April 1-3, 2026
IEC Expo Astana, Mangilik El 53/1
Astana, Kazakhstan

The Kazakhstan Machinery Fair (KMF) is the leading trade event for the mechanical engineering and metalworking industries in Kazakhstan and all of Central Asia. In 2025, the exhibition space expanded by 30%, attracting 3,864 trade visitors and 294 exhibitors from 24 countries. Nearly 40% of exhibitors came from abroad, including 30 companies from Germany.

In parallel with the trade fair, the annual general assembly of the Kazakh Mechanical Engineering Association takes place, bringing together over 1,200 industry stakeholders, including representatives from government agencies, institutions, and organizations. The event connects manufacturers, suppliers, customers, and key players in the mechanical engineering and metalworking sectors, along with public sector representatives.

Since 2024, the fair has been co-organized by Astana Expo and LMI, with a shared goal of further internationalizing the exhibition. In 2025, the German federal states of Thuringia and Saxony participated with regional joint pavilions. A renewed participation is planned for 2026.

Regional and Market Outlook

According to the Saxony Trade & Invest Corp. (Wirtschaftsförderung Sachsen), Kazakhstan is currently the largest economy in Central Asia and is pursuing ambitious plans to modernize its economy. In 2023, the country reported a nominal GDP of approximately USD 255 billion and real economic growth of 5.1% compared to the previous year. The industrial sector contributes over 32% to GDP, with mechanical engineering alone accounting for more than 13% of the manufacturing industry.

In 2023, Kazakhstan imported machinery and equipment worth around USD 20 billion, making it one of the most dynamic growth sectors in the country. This is driven by sustained demand for advanced technologies and innovative manufacturing solutions. There are currently around 5,400 companies active in the mechanical engineering and metalworking sectors, employing approximately 115,000 workers.

Kazakhstan is also making major efforts to develop its domestic mechanical engineering and manufacturing industries. The government has launched several industry support programs and adopted a comprehensive Development Plan for the Mechanical Engineering Sector 2024–2028.

With ongoing investment, the expansion of local production capacity, and growing demand for high-quality machinery and equipment, the sector continues to grow rapidly and remains a key pillar of Kazakhstan’s industrial value creation.

This positive development offers excellent opportunities for German, Austrian, Swiss, and other international suppliers to succeed in the Kazakh market and to partner in the country’s technological advancement.
