Leipziger Messe International: Exhibitor numbers up at trade fair venues worldwide
With expected turnover of 5.1 million euros from a total of 22 group stands, as well as eight of its own trade fairs and partner events, Leipziger Messe International (LMI) can look back at its most successful business year in the last decade. The 2016 trade fair programme is more extensive than ever before, and includes some 40 group events and one new partnership.
LMI staged group presentations at international trade fairs both for federal ministries and for individual federal states in 2015. The Leipziger Messe subsidiary won several repeat contracts, and was able to continuously increase the number of participating exhibitors. The German Pavilion at the FILDA in Luanda had record participation, for instance, with 30 German companies attending. This year Germany was the partner country of this multi-sector trade fair for investment and consumer products in Angola.
The German group stand at the Cosmoprof Asia in Hong Kong also achieved its highest ever level of participation this year with 41 companies exhibiting. In organising this event on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), LMI benefits from the synergies with the industry-related CosmeticBusiness that Leipziger Messe organises in Munich and will be staging for the first time in Poland as well. At the behest of the Free State of Saxony and in conjunction with the Saxony Economic Development Corporation, LMI organised the Saxony Pavilion at the Semicon West in San Francisco at which 24 companies from Saxony were represented.
LMI’s eight own trade fairs and partnerships in 2015 encompassed trade fairs in Russia, France, China and Thailand. With 138 exhibitors from 23 countries, and more than 3,000 visitors from 110 countries, the accompanying exhibition for the World Congress of the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO) in Lyon was the most international project. This successful collaboration will be continued in South Africa in 2017.
Other highlights included the denkmal Moscow and the Heritage Preservation China (HPC), two international fairs for restoration and museum technology. Both are based on the successful concept of the denkmal Leipzig, the European trade fair for conservation, restoration and old building renovation. The denkmal Moscow alone was attended by almost 3,000 trade visitors, and featured over 80 exhibitors from five countries.
Several premieres in the coming year
In total some 40 group participations are planned for 2016, including several premieres. For the first time there will be an official German Pavilion at the CCMT machine tool fair in Shanghai, organised by LMI. On behalf of the BMWi and in conjunction with the German Machine Tool Builders’ Association (VDW), LMI will be accompanying 20 exhibitors to China. The BMWi has also contracted LMI to organise the German Pavilion at the Achemasia in Beijing. There will be up to 85 exhibitors at the German group stand alone at this trade fair for chemical technology and biotechnology. Dubai will be the backdrop for another premiere: together with the Saxony Economic Development Corporation, LMI will travel with 22 exhibitors to the Arab Health, the region’s biggest trade fair for medical technology.
For the first time in 2016, LMI will be partnering with the organiser of the leading cosmetics fair in Southeast Asia. The Beyond Beauty Asean Bangkok welcomed around 300 exhibitors in 2015 and more than 10,000 visitors from 59 countries and regions.
